Easily Install Your Slat Wall Panels Yourself

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

With Aku Woodpanel's acoustic slat wall panels, you can create a stunning wooden wall while minimizing noise. The best part about these acoustic panels is that they're easy to install on your own. Follow the instructions below to hang your slat wall panels using glue (kit) or screws.

Installation with High Tack Kit

Step 1: Measure the height of the wall where you want to install the slat wall panel and cut the panels to size with a circular saw. If you don't have a circular saw, you can use a regular handsaw to cut the wood and felt.

Step 2: Ensure that the wall or ceiling where you'll place the panels is clean and free of screws and other obstacles. Carefully sand the surface and degrease it with ammonia or a substitute.

Step 3: Apply the sealant evenly to the back of the panel. It's best to spread the sealant over the entire panel in one smooth motion. Position the panel in the desired location on the surface and press firmly.

Step 4: Cut off the protruding edge of felt from the last panel with a sharp knife, leaving a wooden batten. This provides a neat finish to the edge of your installation.

Extra tip: Properly align and check the panels before applying the sealant. The caulk can be very strong, making it difficult to reposition the panel once it is in place.

Installation with Screws

Step 1: Measure the height of the wall and cut the panels to size with a circular saw or a sharp handsaw.

Step 2: Clean and clear the wall or ceiling of screws and obstacles.

Step 3: Attach horizontal cross slats to the wall or ceiling, spacing them at least 12 inches apart.

Step 4: Mount the panels with screws onto the crossbars. Use 12 screws per panel, inserting them through the felt before tightening.

Step 5: Using a sharp knife, cut the protruding edge of felt off the last panel, leaving a wooden batten.

Extra tip: Use screws that match the color of the felt. We recommend drywall screws with a diameter of at least 3/16 inch and a length of 1 1/4 inches.
